One of the many hiking trails in the area is the Riffianer Waalweg. It runs for around 5 kilometres through meadows and along the edge of the forest to Kuens and is easy to follow. The path leads past the baroque parish church of Riffian and then, after a slight ascent, follows the Waalweg to Kuens. You are accompanied by beautiful views of Riffian and the opposite side of the Passeiertal Valley.

The "Burgstall" archaeological site, a settlement from the Iron Age, bears witness to Riffian's long history. After a fire around 50 BC, it was never rebuilt and only the central manor house has been excavated and is well preserved. It can be reached in approx. 40 minutes from Riffian via the Kirchweg and the Gnealersteig. Guided tours are organised by the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology.
Merano 2000 is just a 15-minute drive from Riffian and offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including panoramic hikes, mountain biking, alpine bobsleighing, paragliding, via ferrata and, in winter, well-groomed ski slopes. We recommend a ride on the modern Merano 2000 mountain railway, which takes you up to an altitude of over 2000 metres in just 7 minutes.
